breakfast (with a side of vitamin a)
I am a creature of habit, so if I find something that I fancy, I will indulge in it until I am completely burnt out. this month, it's berry smoothies with a side of greens.
if you're like me, you won't touch spinach unless its hidden in a pasta, or drowned in a saucy cheese dip. I am not a fan of leafy greens. not at all. however, I came to the delicious realization that, when blended in a smoothie, spinach is nowhere to be found (in taste, that is.) handfuls of the stuff is easily disguised in these drinks, and so now you can just call me popeye.
for my smoothies I typically add (not all pictured) :
2 cups baby spinach, sometimes more - I swear you cannot taste it.
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
10 or so blueberries
1/2 cup greek yogurt (I like yoplait greek, key lime or honey vanilla)
8 oz orange juice, or apple, or cranberry, whatever
I think you could also make a frozen banana + choco soy milk + peanut butter + spinach variation too.
or any variation, really. if you have a favorite smoothie mix, send it over to me!
happy blending, friends!
Aw, these photos are adorable! I've been meaning to add spinach to my smoothies, heard from so many people that you can't taste it.
ReplyDeleteI've done straight spinach & OJ drinks and I'm the same, hate spinach by itself but couldn't taste it in the drink at all!
ReplyDeleteI'll be trying your smoothie!
